2013 MOJO HAND REUNION CONCERT AT HOTEL SETTLES IN BIG SPRING, TX

November 16, 2013 at the HOTEL SETTLES in Big Spring, TX was an extraordinary day. A private concert was held in the recently restored historic Hotel Settles, featuring a Mojo Hand Reunion. Big Spring was home for two brief, important periods in my life. The concert celebrated my West Texas roots with friends Sally Townes, and Colorado pals Butch Hause & Sarah Lincoln. Sally was my bandmate in "The Mojo Hand", in Big Spring back in 1967. After high school, she went on to build a substantial musical career, becoming a fixture of the New Orleans music scene for many years. Sally's passionate and soulful keyboard and vocal talents helped make the November 2013 concert a memorable performance, as we journeyed together through songs from our past and present repetoires. Colorado's Butch Hause and Sarah Lincoln were an integral part of our "reunion" band, and added their own brilliant solo and duo performances to the set!
All in all, it was a beautiful friends-and-family affair. Special thanks to Tumbleweed Smith, who provided a gracious introduction to the program, with some facinating history of Settles. Thanks also, to cousins Rick and Lori Stricklan for their excellent photos and spiritual support. We have shared many of their photos below. The concert was recorded by "Ranger" Butch for a live album release next fall. Make plans to vist Hotel Settles next time you're in Big Srping.
